Is Blogging Really Still Worth It?
At the time of writing this post, there are 1.98 billion websites on the internet.
And you know what?
More than a billion (with a “B”), among these websites, are blogs. This makes roughly one blog for every seven people living in this world.
Moreover, bloggers from all over the world publish 4+ million blog posts each and every day.
I know it really feels amazing! I mean being a part of a blog-o-sphere this huge!
But the real question is… Is blogging still worth it?
Well! This question has got two answers. Or so it seems to me!
When it comes to traditional blogging (and by that I mean spewing text-based content), then the answer is no! That thing did use to work in old days, when smartphones weren’t that common.
And the long answer to this question is modern blogging with Yes as its TL;DR version!
And that brings us to the modern blogging!
You do know how large is the smartphone market today, don’t you?
With the rise of smartphones, people are more interested in other types of contents, like videos, podcasts, AR, VR, etc.
So, if you really want to survive in this huge blog-o-sphere, then don’t just focus on text-based content. Instead, you should focus on different types of contents and multiple sources.
Let’s say, you post something on your website, you need to make sure that the same content sits on Facebook, LinkedIn, Medium, or wherever you can stuff it.
Wait what?!!! Wouldn’t Google penalize my site for duplicate content?
Oh that? That’s just some stone age myth. And I am not the only one saying that. Check Neil Patel’s post on NeilPatel.com where he “sorts of” beheads this myth.
So… Back to the topic!
If you are a video creator, ensure that the same video is posted on your other social media accounts like Facebook page, YouTube channel, Dailymotion channel, Instagram TV, etc.
And why is that a good practice, you ask?
Well! It’s all because you want to capture your audience, no matter wherever it is!
Keeping that audience, however, is even more important!
Use your current audience to build up your email list and push subscribers, so you can make use of different tools to help in conversion. If you think that people will 100% buy from you only by watching a video, then you can’t be more wrong (I do know there can be a few exceptions)!
So, make sure that you keep your target audience with you by making use of fresh content, and out of the box ideas until you get a shot at selling them
